Hatch Burns Midnight Oil, Joining Failed Effort to Pass Bill That Would Have Increased Utahns’ Insurance Premiums by 20 Percent

SALT LAKE CITY – Today, Salt Lake County Council member, fifth-generation Utahn, and candidate for U.S. Senate Jenny Wilson issued the following statement following U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch’s vote

“In the middle of the night, Orrin Hatch joined a failed effort to pass a bill that would increase health insurance premiums by 20 percent and take away health insurance from thousands and thousands of Utahns. Worse, he cast this vote without holding a single hearing in the committee he controls. This is not how Washington should work. There was a time that Orrin Hatch believed in bipartisanship and deliberation on issues important to Utahns, but after his 40 years in the U.S. Senate, Washington has changed and so has he. It’s time for new leadership.”
